7 Life Lessons From Timon and Pumbaa (PHOTOS)

Hakuna Matata, what a wonderful phrase
Hakuna Matata, ain’t no passing craze
It means no worries, for the rest of your daaaaaays.
It’s a problem free philosophy,
Hakuna Matata.
(Bet you sang along to the start of this article!)
Timon and Pumbaa first made their appearance on one of Disney’s most popular classic, The Lion King in 1994. They were Simba’s saviours when he was poor and devastated after losing his dad.

They told the little guy to live by their favourite motto: Hakuna Matata.
That wasn’t the only important thing we learnt from them though. Check out the other seven we listed!

7 Things Timon and Pumbaa Taught Us

1. Pamper yourself.

There’s a reason why there is a “me” in time. Everyone needs time to themselves, no matter how busy you can get.
It’s not selfish to love yourself, take care of yourself, and to make your happiness a priority. It’s necessary.
— Unknown
Take some time off every week, whether to sleep in on the weekends or to watch that new movie in theaters, to re-energise. It will do you good, I promise.
2. Keep negativity out of your life.

Life is too short to hang around people who make you feel poop about yourself. Instead, be surrounded with people who genuinely care for your well being and bring out the best in you!
When someone tells me “no,” it doesn’t mean I can’t do it, it simply means I can’t do it with them.
— Karen E. Quinones Miller
Don’t let a bunch of bummers rain on your parade! Dump those toxic relationships down the drain, and detach if you must. It’s going to be good for your heart in the long run.
3. Be yourself.

Cliché but true, there is only one you and millions of someone else, so why not stick to being unique?
Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.
— Kurt Cobain
Sure, many people may not accept you(r stench), but eventually someone (like Timon to Pumbaa) will, and that’s when you know you’ve got something real. Always stay true to yourself!
Remember, you’re awesome.
4. Embrace the spotlight.

Even if you’re a shy one who prefers being behind the scenes, you should accept the limelight once in a while. No harm in having a little moment of glory.
You worked hard to deserve the attention, so enjoy it!
5. Don’t be afraid to try new things.

Guess what? You will always be afraid of that New Thing until you give it a try. Not to mention, you’ll be missing out on all the amazing things life has to offer.
When the last time you did something for the first time?

Take the leap of faith! Be adventurous! Go out there and compliment a stranger!
In Millennial terms, just #YOLO man.
6. Watch your mouth

Now, I’m sure many of us are guilty of saying things we don’t entirely mean in the heat of a moment or another. However, that doesn’t stop the fact that words are powerful things.
Disaster emanates from careless talk.
— Chinese Proverb
That said, think things through before letting it slip your mouth, because what’s said cannot be taken back.
7. When all else fails, shake that mane!
